How Education Transforms Military Spouse Careers and Communities with Erik Therwanger, Think GREAT Foundation

Erik Therwanger Think GREAT Foundation
Milspouse Transition Conversations

Education has the power to change everything for military spouses. Not just career paths, but confidence, stability, and the way we see ourselves after years of serving alongside our servicemembers.

For many spouses, especially those navigating the shift from active duty to veteran life, the search for opportunity can feel overwhelming. Benefits disappear, support systems shift, and the question becomes, Where do I even begin?

That’s where education steps in as a lifeline. Whether it’s a degree, a certification, or a trade program, education creates possibility.

It builds identity, opens doors to sustainable careers, and strengthens the entire family.

In this episode, host Anna Larson sits down with Erik Therwanger, founder of the Think GREAT Foundation, to explore why education matters so deeply for military spouses and how access to scholarships and recognition can transform a family’s trajectory.

If you’ve ever paused your dreams for the needs of the military, this conversation is an inspiring reminder that it’s never too late to start something new — and you don’t have to do it alone.
